The answer is Mitochondria. Cellular respiration takes place in the mitochondria. The mitochondria get energy from food to make a high energy molecules a cell can use in order to grow, develop, move or divide. The mitochondria breaks down sugar molecules to release the energy in the form of ATP adenosine triphosphate.
