The part of the nervous system that is similar to the autopilot is the AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM. It controls the muscles and the glands of the internal organs. It is divided into sympathetic and parasympathetic. The sympathetic autonomic nervous system brings about excitation in the body while the parasympathetic brings about calmness.
