Yes. CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray discs work by mostly the same technology, a laser reading the microscopic pits. DVDs can store more information than CDs, and Blu-ray can store even more because it uses the smaller blue laser rather than a red one. I suggest you look it up, it's fascinating research!
