The angles are adjacent because they are next to each other adding to 90 degrees.

How do we find x?

Angle 1 + Angle 2 = 90°

31° + (10x - 1)° = 90°

10x + 30 = 90°

10x = 90° - 30

10x = 60°

x = 60°/10

x = 6

Answer: Adjacent and x = 6.
