A canoe is floating downriver at a speed of 2.2 m/s. It has a momentum of 83.6 kg.m/s. What is the mass of the canoe?

Answer: m= 38 kg

Explanation: To solve for the mass of the canoe we will use the formula of momentum which is p= mv. Derive for m, so the formula will become m = p/ v.

m = p/v

= 83.6 kg.m/s / 2.2 m/s

= 38 kg

Cancel out the units of m/s and the remaining unit will be in kg.
