J. J. Thomson’s Plum Pudding model proposed that the electrons were embedded within a sphere of positive charge.

Rutherford’s experiment showed that the positive charge was concentrated in a central, massive, positively-charged nucleus surrounded by a cloud of orbiting electrons.
