I'm impressed that you can do latex. It makes clarity a certain thing.

Add 8 to both sides.

2/3 x = 8 Multiply by 3 on both sides. The threes cancel on the left.

2/3 * 3 x = 8*3

2x = 24 Divide by 2

2x/2 = 24/2

x = 12

Does it check

2/3 * 12 - 8 = 0

2* 4 - 8 = 0

0 = 0

Yes it checks.
